Senior students at Christ the King Primary School, Braybrook, have discovered the fundamentals of flight in a new STEM unit currently being taught.
The unit began with students building planes before learning about the principles of flight and modifying their model to achieve flight. For the school’s STEM leader, Quyen Thai, the unit on aeronautics has been an eye-opener for her as a teacher, as well as providing opportunities for collaboration for all learners. ‘STEM is all about real-life experiences and, in real life, when you do projects, it is a group effort’, she said.
Meet Quyen Thai
In 2023, Quyen Thai, one of our amazing educators, was recognised by the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership as a highly skilled teacher. Through a Fellowship grant of $25,000, Quyen is leading the way in designing and supporting our teachers’ implementation of CTK’s dynamic STEM curriculum. She is using the latest STEM research, theory and practice, to elevate our approach to language learning.
